Steam Oven Not Steaming or Asking to Descale? 6 Checks

Most steam ovens that stop steaming in Las Vegas are scaled up: hard water leaves minerals in the steam generator and pump. Run the oven's own descale program from start to finish with the manufacturer's descaler, re-seat the water tank, check the tank and its seal for damage and empty the drip tray. If it still won't steam, or the descale reminder won't clear after a full cycle, the generator, pump or level sensor needs a technician.

6 checks you can do safely

  1. Run the full descale program. Use the manufacturer's descaler and don't interrupt the cycle — a stopped cycle can leave the reminder on.
  2. Re-seat the water tank. Tank-fed models won't steam if the tank isn't fully seated or the level sensor can't read it.
  3. Use the right water. Follow your manual: some models want tap water, others filtered or softened water.
  4. Check the door seal. Steam escaping around the door means a worn or misplaced seal.
  5. Empty the drip tray. A full condensate tray can trigger warnings on some models.
  6. Write down the code. Codes differ by brand and model; note it before calling so the technician brings the right part.

When to call a technician

  • No steam after a complete descale.
  • Water leaks under the oven.
  • An error code returns after a power reset.

Stay safe

Unplug the appliance (or switch off its breaker) before touching anything inside it, and never open a sealed refrigeration system, a gas valve or a microwave. If a code points to a part, the part has to be tested before it is replaced; we do that on the $75 diagnostic visit, credited toward the repair.

Frequently asked questions

How often should a steam oven be descaled in Las Vegas?

Are steam oven error codes the same across brands?

No. Codes vary by brand and model, so the exact cause is confirmed on a technician visit.
