A range hood (also called an exhaust hood, vent hood or cooker hood) removes smoke, grease, steam, heat and odors while you cook. It's made up of an exhaust fan motor, grease filters, switches or electronic controls, ducting to the outside and lights. When any of them fails, smoke and grease stay in the kitchen.
