LG dryer d80, d85, d90 and d95 codes mean the exhaust vent is roughly 80–95% blocked — clean the lint filter, the duct behind the dryer and the vent to the outside, and don't run the dryer at d90 or higher. tE1 and tE3 are temperature (thermistor) and heat faults, gAS means a gas dryer isn't heating, dE means the door switch is open and PS means the supply voltage is wrong. After the vent is cleaned, codes that return need a technician.
Try this first
- Clean the lint filter and the vent from the dryer to the outside hood.
- Electric dryers: check both halves of the 240V double breaker. Gas dryers: make sure the gas valve is on.
- Unplug the dryer for 5 minutes and restart.
Vent (Flow Sense) codes
| Code | What it means | What you can do |
|---|
| d80 / d85 | Exhaust about 80–85% restricted | Clean the full vent run; drying stays slow until you do. |
| d90 / d95 | Exhaust about 90–95% restricted | Stop using the dryer until the vent is cleaned or repaired — fire hazard. |
| HS | Humidity sensor error, or vent test run on a warm dryer | Run the test cold; if HS returns, the sensor needs service. |
Heat codes
| Code | What it means | What you can do |
|---|
| tE1 | Thermistor (temperature sensor) error | Sensor or wiring — call for repair. |
| tE3 | Heat fault — thermistor out of range, tripped thermostat or wrong voltage | Check the 240V breaker and clean the vent; then heater circuit or high-limit. |
| gAS | Gas dryer not heating | Gas valve on? Then igniter, flame sensor or gas valve coils — call. |
Door and power codes
| Code | What it means | What you can do |
|---|
| dE | Door not closed — door switch open | Close firmly; repeats mean the door switch. |
| PS / nP | Supply voltage incorrect or power interrupted | Check outlet and breaker; electric dryers need 240V. |
| F0 / IF | Lint filter not detected | Seat the lint filter fully. |
| CL | Child lock on (not an error) | Hold Child Lock for 3 seconds. |
Codes and their meaning can vary by model and production year, and the same code can have different causes. Where sources disagree we say so; in every case the exact cause is confirmed only by a technician's on-site diagnosis. Your owner's manual has the definitive list for your model.
Stay safe
Unplug the appliance (or switch off its breaker) before touching anything inside it, and never open a sealed refrigeration system, a gas valve or a microwave. If a code points to a part, the part has to be tested before it is replaced; we do that on the $75 diagnostic visit, credited toward the repair.
Frequently asked questions
What does d90 mean on an LG dryer?
The vent is about 90% blocked. Stop using the dryer and clean or repair the vent.
Why does my LG dryer say tE3?
No heat or a temperature fault — check the breaker and vent, then the heater circuit.
Do you clean dryer vents?
We clear what we can reach at the dryer; long or rooftop runs need a vent-cleaning company.
Do you repair LG gas dryers?
Yes, including igniters, flame sensors and gas valve coils. We don't connect gas lines.
