Whirlpool, Maytag and KitchenAid Oven F-Codes: What They Mean and What to Do

Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, JennAir and Amana ranges share F-codes. F1E0 is a control memory error (often clears after 30 seconds without power), F2E0 a shorted keypad, F3E0 and F3E1 an open or shorted oven temperature sensor, F5E0 door switches that disagree and F9E1 a door latch that can't lock or unlock. Reset the breaker once; repeated codes need a technician.

Want it fixed instead? Same-day or next-day visits across the Las Vegas Valley — the $75 diagnostic is credited toward the repair.

Try this first

  1. Switch the breaker off for at least 30 seconds, then back on.
  2. Don't force a locked door after self-clean — let the oven cool completely.
  3. Gas models: if you smell gas, leave the home and call Southwest Gas.

F6E0 / otherMeaning varies by model or production year — sources disagreeModel-specific: a technician visit is needed to find the exact cause.

Codes and their meaning can vary by model and production year, and the same code can have different causes. Where sources disagree we say so; in every case the exact cause is confirmed only by a technician's on-site diagnosis. Your owner's manual has the definitive list for your model.

Code came back after these checks? That means a part has failed — let a technician confirm it before parts are guessed.

Stay safe

Unplug the appliance (or switch off its breaker) before touching anything inside it, and never open a sealed refrigeration system, a gas valve or a microwave. If a code points to a part, the part has to be tested before it is replaced; we do that on the $75 diagnostic visit, credited toward the repair.

Frequently asked questions

Do JennAir and Amana use the same codes?

Most do — they're Whirlpool brands with the same control family.

My oven door is locked with F9E1. What now?

Let it cool and reset the breaker; if it stays locked, the latch needs service.
